Girls on the Run® South Hampton Roads is a non-profit, 100% volunteer-run organization. We are actively looking for volunteers to help each new season. Coaching Coach 8-15 girls (either 3rd-5th grade or 6th-8th grade) twice a week right after school using the GOTR curriculum. Every site has a minimum of 2 coaches.Click here to learn more about coaching.

 

The Fall 2013 season begins on September 23rd and goes until December 14thfor the end of season 5k.Training for new coaches will be Saturday, August 24th.

 

A background check is required.

Team Adelaide Conduct 2 visits to one site during the season. The first visit is a “meet and greet” between the volunteer and the team.  The second visit, the Team Adelaide volunteers will complete a short, informal site evaluation checklist.Click here to learn more about Team Adelaide.

SoleMates Raise money for Girls on the Run® South Hampton Roads while you train for your individual goal, such as running a half marathon, full marathon or completing a triathlon. We are now beginning training for the Rock ‘n Roll Half marathon in Virginia Beach.Click here for more information about SoleMates.

Board of Directors Girls on the Run® South Hampton Roads is looking for Board Members to help grow our program locally.  Board members meet monthly, are responsible for making key strategic and financial decisions regarding the implementation of the program locally and must meet minimum fundraising requirements. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for our cause and a willingness to commit time for meetings and special events.   Some specific skill needs are: Human Resources, Public Relations, Computer/Web, and Finance/Accounting.  Prior board-level experience is helpful, but not required.Click herefor detailed responsibilities and board application.Email Kim Schools at kbschools@cox.net with any questions.

 

Community Running Buddy Assigned individually to a team, where the coach will identify a girl or girls who might benefit from the extra encouragement and camaraderie Running Buddies will provide as they complete the 5k together.Click here to learn more about Running Buddies.
